About Karelia

Karelia Stetz-Waters writes funny, sexy romances about women finding true love with other women—and getting the happily-ever-after they deserve.

She is also on a mission to spread "cliteracy" far and wide, using romance to celebrate female sexual anatomy, desire, and pleasure with equal parts joy, honesty, and heat. Her two most recent novels were co-authored with her wife, bringing their shared love of queer romance to the page.

When she's not shopping for model clitorises or writing love stories, Karelia teaches writing at a community college in rural Oregon, where her students inspire her with their bravery, creativity, and perseverance. She also teaches for the Golden Crown Literary Society Writing Academy, mentoring queer writers and celebrating their successes. Away from her desk, you'll find her gardening, drawing, spoiling her pug-mix, Willa Cather, or learning to game on her new PlayStation.

Karelia holds a BA in Comparative Literature from Smith College and an MA in English from the University of Oregon. She is represented by Jane Dystel of Dystel, Goderich & Bourret.  She believes the best love stories expand our capacity for hope—not just in romance, but in ourselves, one another, and the possibility of a kinder world.
